April Meeting Cancelled

After discussions and consideration with the Advisory, the April meeting has been cancelled. Despite being excited to host our first in-person meeting in over two years, we felt that there simply wasn't enough in the dossier to warrant a meeting.

Moreover, the in-person May meeting will now take place on May 16th and will be held at the Board's headquarters, located at 1925 Ave Brookdale in Droval.

In May, we will be looking to discuss the GB's role in the educational projects currently being discussed in our schools. At that same meeting, we will host a presentation from the educational organization and resource, Alloprof.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the break!

MARCH 2 2024

To the LBPSB community,

We are writing to inform you about an important change in our school calendar due to an upcoming celestial event and its potential impact on student safety.

As you may be aware, on April 8, there will be a significant solar eclipse occurring during the dismissal time of most of our schools. While celestial events such as eclipses are fascinating opportunities for learning, they also present safety concerns, particularly when they coincide with dismissal times and students are not under direct supervision.

In light of these safety considerations, we have decided to prioritize the well-being of our students by adjusting our school calendar. Therefore, the previously scheduled Pedagogical Day on March 18 will be rescheduled to April 8. Consequently, there will be no school for elementary/secondary students and no Daycare Services on April 8. March 18 will now be a regular school day for all students.

We understand that changes to the school calendar may inconvenience some families, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause. However, please rest assured that this decision was made with the safety and best interests of our students at the forefront.

Please note that April 8 will be a regular school day for the school board’s adult education and vocational centres.

We thank you for your understanding and collaboration on this matter.
